Acoustics and Vibration Technology

The ITV has gained extensive experience through acoustic technology projects involving sonic measurements and by developing primary (influencing the formation of sound) and secondary (influencing sound conduction and acoustic emissions, e.g. through encapsulation and source shielding) sound-reducing measures. As for sound technology, airborne sound and mechanical vibration measurements and analyses are taken on machinery and their components. Sonic measurements and analyses are also taken on hydraulic systems. Additional emphasis is laid on fundamental research for sound-reducing systems in/with textiles. Acoustic textiles for buildings and vehicles, for instance, are a part of this development.

We offer:

  • sonic measurements in the ITV acoustics measuring room (6 x 5 x 5m)
  • acoustic power measurements
  • sound localization measurements
  • determination of absorption by acoustic impedance measuring technology
  • measurement of pressure pulsation in hydraulics systems
  • measurements of mechanical vibration
  • mechanical vibration measurements of vibration damping behavior
  • performance of acoustic analyses
  • solutions to sound reduction by applying structural measures, damping, and source shielding
