Successful development of medical products

In the research field biomedical engineering chemists, engineers and biologists work in close co-operation on topics for research and development of medical products.In the course of publicly and industrially supported projects biomaterials and medical products esp. implants as well as materials and methods for regenerating tissue on a polymer basis are developed.

The established technologies in the research field of product development go from the synthesis of special polymers (e.g. which dissolve in the body residue-free after a certain time) over textile and non-textile processing technologies to the technical, chemical and biological assessment of the final products. The developments result in close cooperation with various clinics and companies worldwide.

Main research:

  • Medical product development: According to ISO 13485 certified development of biomaterials and medical products starting from absorbable and non-resorbable polymers up to the design and the clinical trial of medical products and licensing
  • Regenerative medicine: Development and production of cell carriers for the regeneration of tissue and for the biohybrid organ replacement
  • Test: Testing of materials and implants in the accredited test laboratory at ITV Denkendorf according to ISO 17025.
