Fiber Composite Materials |
The advantages gathered from the manufacture of fiber composites call for textile technology to develop production processes specifically matched to textile materials. Optimizing textile processes also make the fiber composites applicable to a larger range of applications. The enhanced development of fibers, textile and matrix systems and the optimization of process and production therefore is very important in the area of fiber composite research. Differently composed processes enable the production of model profiles and components e.g. via:
- pultrusion
- braiding pultrusion
- RTM (resin transfer molding) process
- vacuum bag procedure.
Current Fiber Composite Technology projects (selection):
- development of a manufacturing process for bionically-inspired fiber composite materials for medical applications
- fiber composites showing high functionality, e.g. improved passive vibration reduction
- fiber composite materials with thermoplastic matrix.
