Innovations are essential for economic success. Every year the ITV encourages numerous innovations for and with the industry. Promising new value-added products have been manufactured owing to our innovative materials and process research. The following is a selection from our current projects. For more examples of inspiring textile technology research, please click on the following link to access the website of the ‘Forschungskuratorium Textil e.V.´ www.textilforschung.de.

Fascinating surfaces with atmofil®

atmofil® is a DSE-yarn (Differential-Shrinkage- Elongation) made of polyester, which causes loops and crimps after hydrothermal treatment.

Technical plant stem

Inspired by four biological models, a bionic fiber component material combined with outstanding properties could be developed. The 'technical plant stem' is light and stable as well.

Swimwear remains dry

A bionic research project developed a new fabric, which protects from wetness by a thin air layer.

New laser sensor for winding machines

In cooperation with Vienco GmbH a low-priced laser sensor was developed for the measurement of length of cross coils on modern winding machines.

Transparent heat insulation

According to the principle of the polar bear’s hair, a translucent, flexible heat-insulating material on textile basis was developed, which, for example, can be used for the covering of solar collectors.

Sensor-controlled babygro

Smart babygro monitors all important vital parameters and protects from the sudden infant death syndrome.
