Knitting Technologies

Practice-orientated product and process development

The activities in the research area Knitting Technology are closely connected with knitting, warp-knitting engineering, and the knitting industry. The research activities concentrate on three main areas: flat, circular, and warp knitting technology for the knitting industry. The close connection resulted in the development and optimization of machine components as well as processes. The third center of activity concerns special research within the scope of knitwear technology. Special customized measurement instruments are developed and designed. In addition, new product-specific processes are under development and corresponding instruments produced in own workshops – from prototypes up to the stage ready to go into production.

We offer:

  • consulting for industry
  • industrial production analyses
  • analysis of damage events in cooperation with the accredited textile lab
  • wear examinations using knitting-technology function elements
  • investigations into the performance of lubrication systems
  • knitting and warp-knitting trials
  • development of knitting technology prototypes
  • development of process technology prototypes
  • development of non-conventional knitting structures
  • production of spacer knitted fabrics and spacer warp-knitted fabrics
  • production of different flat and circular knitted fabrics of different yarn count
  • knitting of non-conventional yarns on circular and flat knitting machines
  • development of low-cost sensors for production machines.
