Polymer Synthesis |
The ITV Denkendorf polymerisation lab R&D focus is on polymers for medical applications – polymers that can be resorbed by the human body after a certain time period. Various polymerisation reactors are available in the lab for a multitude of applications ranging from lab to pilot plant scale.
Offered services:
- development of customized functional polymers and polymer blends specially made for medical applications involving implants for instance, or for medical wound dressing products, or as a base material for regenerative medicine or for drug delivery systems. An example are resorbable polymers with defined mechanical properties and degradation profiles
- polymer additives (coloring, admixture of functional substances) during or after polymerisation
- preparation of polymer solutions for further processing (wet spinning process, spraying process, blade coating technology, membrane technology)
- production of lab scale biocompatible, resorbable, and non-resorbable polymers
- Kleinmengenproduktion von biokompatiblen, resorbierbaren und nicht resorbierbaren Polymeren.
Successful developments have been realized in the past years involving resorbable polymers. These show excellent biocompatibility during degradation as they release very few acid monomers. These developments also include a hydrophilic polysulfone that can be utilized as a membrane in biological systems as it shows protein resisting properties.
Chemical analysis and further processing
Extensive chemical analyses of polymers (NMR, DSC, TGA, GPC, GC-MS, ICP, viscometry, rheology) provide extensive and topical results, which can be directly applied for the further optimization of polymer compositions and polymer processes. This enables an effective, quick, and low-cost development of polymers.
