The future of textiles: electronics and microsystems
The main stress of this field of R & D is put on the development of smart textiles for health care, work and protective clothing, sports, recreation and technical textiles (automotive, industrial, building). Important areas of research activity e.g. include the integration of electronics and microsystems into textiles and the development of textiles with electro-physical characteristics. Other important topics concern wearable computing, power supply and the development of improved bonding, assembly and production processes. The current research project ‘Solartex’ involves the integration of photovoltaic technology into clothing.
We offer:
- R & D of smart textile technologies in the field of health care, protective textiles, sports, and recreation
- development of improved production processes for smart textiles
- knowledge transfer of technologies, products and processes between the textile and electronics branches
- development of applications in miniaturization and microsystem technology for intelligent textile products and flows of process control.
Research projects in this area can be accessed here.
