Flow simulation

For the improvement of already existing processes (e.g. spinning preparation) as well as for the development of new spinning and texturizing processes, flow simulation (Computational Fluid Dynamics) is used at the ITV.

Among other models for the calculation of the flow of air in spinning and texturizing nozzles were developed: In nozzles with very a very small drill cross section high air velocities can be reached in textile technological processes, which mostly require a consideration of the compressibility of air. In areas of yarn formation it often comes to a compression of air which can both support (texturizing process) and also obstruct (spinning process) the process. Flow simulation is also a suitable tool for the local and temporal outlook on the compression in the nozzle and renders a service concerning the nozzle design.

The example shows the temporal development of the velocity field in a nozzle for the production of hybrid yarns (FiSta)which was produced at the ITV. In places with a high velocity gradient compressions take place.

Here you can see a flow simulation.
